DE BOOM VAN LEVEN staat symbool voor het leven dat we zouden moeten leven of vaak zouden willen leven. Het kunstwerk heeft zijn naam gekregen, na het ontstaan van de HIWI-drawing: 

BOOM VAN GOED EN KWAAD (Zie hiernaast) Uiteraard komen deze 2 bomen veelvuldig voor in de Bijbel en hier zijn ze dan ook letterlijk op gebaseerd. Er bestaat tevens een film en een Podcast over deze 2 bomen. Het kunstwerk:

BOOM VAN LEVEN Is te koop voor de prijs van EUR 105 000, - Het bedrag kan eveneens aangemerkt worden als een donatie voor de stichting Bando. Men wil hier een groot educatief centrum met woon –en logeervoorziening mee opbouwen in de stad Dipolog City.

De slang was een slim dier, het slimste dier van alle dieren die God, de Heer, gemaakt had. De slang vroeg aan de vrouw: “God heeft jullie zeker gezegd dat je van geen enkele boom in de tuin mag eten?”  “Nee,” zei de vrouw. “We mogen de vruchten eten van alle bomen, behalve van de boom in het midden van de tuin. Als we van die boom eten, of hem alleen al aanraken, zullen we sterven. Dat heeft God gezegd. (Genesis 3:1-3)

Dit werk is helaas niet meer beschikbaar! Tijdens een speciale bijeenkomst waarbij ik als eregast kon worden uitgenodigd, heb ik het werk gewoon weggeven en heeft de bezitter ervan een mogelijk vrijwillige bijdrage voor willen doen op een donatie-site die ik in die tijd had willen maken. 

Was het werk dan geen €105 000,- waard? Hoor ik nu misschien de vraag? En dan antwoord ik: jazeker, dit werk is het nog steeds waard, al zal de eigenaar zich dit waarschijnlijk niet beseffen en dat wil ik het nu liever zo houden. De boom des leven is zelfs vele keren meer waard en eigenlijk onbetaalbaar. Maar ook is die boom natuurlijk voor iedereen gratis en dat wil ik hier graag mee aantonen. Eigenlijk was dit werk onbetaalbaar en heeft het in Rijswijk altijd boven mijn bed gehangen. En terwijl ik dit schrijf zie ik de spijker nog op de plaats waar het kunstwerk gehangen heeft. Toch gaf ik het gratis weg, net zoals ik eens een heel groot schilderij weg heb gegeven aan een van de bekendste Nederlandse advocaten met de naam Wim Anker. En met een beetje geluk kennen de gebroeders Anker hier wel een iets hogere waarde aan toe, ook al ben ik daar nooit helemaal zeker van. Het is zoals het spreekwoord natuurlijk luid:

EEN GEGEVEN PAARD, KIJK JE NIET IN DE BEK

TREE OF LIFE

The work was first called “Framed Trees” but 28 years later it was called:

TREE OF GOOD AND EVIL (see beside)Of course these 2 trees appear frequently in the Bible and they are literally based on this.There is also a movie and a Podcast about these 2 trees. The artwork: TREE OF LIFE  Is for sale for the price of                 

EUR 105 000,-The amount can also be regarded as a donation to the Bando foundation. They want to use this to build a large educational center with living and accommodation facilities in the city of Dipolog City.

This work is unfortunately no longer available! At a special meeting where I could be invited as a guest of honor, I simply gave the work away and the owner offered to make a possible voluntary contribution to a donation site that I had wanted to create at the time.
Was the work not worth €105,000? Do I hear the question now? And then I answer: yes, this work is still worth it, although the owner probably won't realize this and I prefer to keep it that way for now. The tree of life is even worth many times more and actually priceless. But of course that tree is also free for everyone and I would like to demonstrate that with this. This work was actually priceless and it has always hung above my bed in Rijswijk. And as I write this, I can still see the nail where the artwork hung. Yet I gave it away for free, just as I once gave away a very large painting to one of the most famous Dutch lawyers by the name of Wim Anker. And with a bit of luck, the Anker brothers will assign a slightly higher value to this, although I'm never quite sure of that. As the saying goes, of course:

A GIFT HORSE, DON'T LOOK YOU IN THE MOUTH
